The Ridge

Architect | Tony Hobba Architects

This home captures the views of the sun rising over the Aireys lighthouse.

Situated at the top of the ridge in Fairhaven, this home captures the views of the sun rising over the Aireys lighthouse in the morning and the stunning sunset dropped down over the Lorne mountains in the evening. Spotted gum timber was used throughout the house to make you feel as though you’re sitting in a luxurious timber resort. Two outdoor decks were designed to be open or inclosed, depending on the weather.

Hey Andrew, my wife and I wanted to just say a huge thank you to you and the guys (Jarrod, Shaun, Coop, Jack and the others who worked on our place). The house is amazing, and we love just being in the home and living here. Your attention to detail and workmanship really surpassed our expectations. Not even the corona virus pandemic could slow you guys down, handing over a week early was really unexpected and welcome. To be able to bunker down in our new haven for the second lock down was priceless, thanks again from our family to you and yours.

Beach Shack

Architect | Emma Mitchell

Unique renovation of this incredible Point Roadknight home.

The clever design uses recycled timber around walls, bulk heads, and huge double glazed windows, gave the house a modern, rustic feel. New polished floorboards complimented the recycled timber. This home makes you feel homely and relaxed as soon as you step foot inside.

Pt. Roadknight

From an old run down house into an incredible family home.

Just a hop step and a jump from the beach, lies this fully renovated home that was transformed from an old run down house into an incredible family home. Main features of the house are the open plan living area, and a grand stand designed deck. Bedrooms and master bedrooms were all situated downstairs with a lead onto a rumpus room. Upstairs is all about entertainment with a the open kitchen and the built in timber fireplace which is the centre piece of the lounge.

Coastal Charm

This Jan Juc home was created around exposed steel, beams and columns being the main feature of the house.

With the sloping block, the house was designed to maximise the view of Jan Juc and the RACV golf club. The existing house was refurbished and new external cladding and windows was used to give it a modern feel.

The new extension was a kitchen and living area that was divided by a double sided fireplace.

In the evening, the spectacular void lights, light up the stairwell which creates this ambient mood for relaxing at night.

Interior designer | Kylie Sargent

Open space, chilled vibes and detailed personality.

Transformed from a dated 1980s house to a modern beach holiday house. Chilled vibes. Extensive decking built around a 100 year old gum tree.  All updated fittings and fixtures. The kitchen had a big feature light over the island bench top, which makes the house look very modern.

The Great Outdoors

The job is an outdoor living ground-floor deck, with a swim spa and a leisure spa.

The first floor is a split level entertaining area with an outdoor kitchen and meals area, with the added luxury of a lounge area.

The renovation also included a rooftop deck with an open bar, which sits on top with 180-degree ocean views of Torquay, Barwon Heads and looking across to the Mornington Peninsula.

The Family House

Architect | Tony Hobba Architects

A high quality, highly detailed house.

Western red cedar glazed claddings with double glazed timber windows. Roof highlight windows were used to give the roofline a sense of a grand space. Sunken kitchen made the house feel like it had different split level.

A separate parent retreat, with a large bedroom and a resort and glamorous ensuite with a feature double shower with waterfall rain-heads and stone bench tops. Window seat with bifold opening doors onto the backyard.

The Treehouse

Live in all seasons connected to the views.

Located in Aireys Inlet along the Great Ocean Road, studio505 have designed a floating folded woven timber sheet that holds a new holiday house high in the air.

The fibro beach shack below contains the guest and expansion space, the upper space becomes an enclosed pavilion – a veranda with windows, where the occupant can live in all seasons connected to the views, the trees and the world outside.

Andrew Quinn was the builder for my house at Aireys Inlet. It was designed by the architects at Studio 505 and was quite a complicated building as it needed to sit into quite a small building envelope. The house has a large steel frame and a lot of angles. Andrew and his team really embraced the project and liaised well with the architect during all the entire building stages. Andrew has a good team of sub contractors-from painters, electricians, plumbers, carpenters and landscapers. I am really pleased with the end result and now enjoying my dream beach house.

Old Torquay

History restored in a complete renovation and addition of this weatherboard beach house in old Torquay.

History restored in a complete renovation and addition of this weatherboard beach house in old Torquay. Original home refurbished with an extension of a modern contemporary open kitchen and lounge room.

The external glass wall facing north with sliding doors opens up the house to the backyard. This renovation focuses on keeping the originality and history of the old beach house, whilst adding a modern touch out the back.

What a fantastic job! We couldn’t be happier with Andrew and his team at A.J. Quinn. Their work on restoring our old beach house and adding on a new living room was first class, and their attention to detail was impeccable. They are not just builders and carpenters, they’re craftsmen. When any unforeseen problems arose, Andrew came up with practical and imaginative solutions which were spot on. The finished job is wonderful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend A.J. Quinn for your next build or reno.
